Our Story
Tina’s Home was founded on a simple but powerful belief: no one should feel forgotten. Tytannie, the Founder of Tina’s Home, grew up in Chicago’s child welfare system, navigating a life marked by instability and uncertainty. At 15 years old, she was placed in a transitional living home called The Harbour Inc. where she met Tina. That relationship would change everything. Tina offered more than support. She offered presence, consistency, and care. At a time when it was easy to feel overlooked and alone, she created a space where Tytannie felt seen, valued, and understood. She helped her realize that her past did not define her future.
Through Tina’s encouragement, Tytannie began to see herself differently. She started to believe that her life could move beyond her circumstances. Tina showed what unconditional love looks like in action and to not just through steady support, patience, and belief. That experience became the foundation for what Tina’s Home is today. Tytannie founded Tina’s Home to carry that same level of care and impact forward, building it alongside others who shared similar lived experiences and a vision for creating the kind of support they once needed. Today, Tina’s Home empowers individuals to heal, grow, and step confidently into their future. Through life skills, mental health support, and career development, the organization provides the tools and support needed to build stability, confidence, and independence.

Tina’s Home Transitional Living Program (TLP) is dedicated to providing safe, supportive housing and comprehensive life-skills development for people who are in or transitioning out of foster care and facing housing insecurity. Our mission is to empower each resident with the stability, resources, and mentorship needed to build independent, confident, and self-sustaining futures.
